Terms of Service

By accessing or using the Authorist platform (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you may not access or use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, creators, and customers of the platform.

Authorist reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Authorist is a creator commerce platform that enables authors, educators, filmmakers, and other media creators to publish, sell, and distribute digital and physical products directly to their audience. The Service includes creator storefronts, product hosting, payment processing, digital delivery, print-on-demand fulfillment, course hosting, audience management tools, and related features.

To sell products on Authorist, you must create a creator account and subscribe to a platform plan. Free accounts may explore the platform and save draft products, but an active paid subscription is required to publish products and make them available for purchase.

Subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe. You may cancel at any time; your account will remain active until the end of the current billing period. Upon cancellation, published products will be removed from public view until a subscription is reactivated.

Authorist uses Stripe Connect to process payments. When a customer purchases a product, payment is processed through Stripe and funds are transferred directly to the creator's connected Stripe account, minus applicable fees.

Authorist retains a per-sale platform fee: $2.00 on physical books, $3.00 on ebooks, and $4.00 on digital courses. These fees are deducted automatically at the time of sale. Stripe's standard payment processing fees apply separately and are charged by Stripe, not Authorist.

Creators are responsible for any taxes, duties, or regulatory obligations related to their sales. Authorist does not provide tax advice or collect sales tax on behalf of creators.

Creators retain full ownership of all content they upload to Authorist, including manuscripts, cover art, course materials, video content, and other media. By uploading content, you grant Authorist a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, display, and distribute your content solely for the purpose of operating the Service.

You represent and warrant that you have the legal right to publish all content you upload, and that your content does not infringe on the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other legal rights of any third party.

You agree not to use the Service to: (a) upload or sell content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or infringes third-party rights; (b) engage in fraud, money laundering, or other illegal activities; (c) manipulate reviews, ratings, or sales metrics; (d) harvest user data without consent; (e) interfere with the Service's infrastructure or security; (f) resell or sublicense access to the platform; or (g) violate any applicable laws or regulations.

Authorist may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or at our sole discretion with reasonable notice. Upon termination, your products will be removed from public view. Existing customer entitlements to previously purchased products will be honored for a reasonable transition period.

You may deactivate your account at any time through your account settings. Your purchase history and order data will be preserved for compliance and record-keeping purposes.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Authorist and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Authorist in the twelve months preceding the claim.

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Nevada, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Clark County, Nevada.
